Unlock The Chain

Australia’s lamb supply follows a clear seasonal production cycle, which affects availability across the year.

The supply of lamb is at its highest during the spring months (September-November), driven by peak pasture growth and the availability of weaned young lambs.

Conversely, supply is at its tightest during Australia's winter (June-July), as this period is dedicated to birthing and rearing, with lambs not yet weaned. The entire cycle is initiated by the conception of ewes in the summer (January-February), followed by a five-month gestation period. Key agricultural practices, such as the shearing of Merino sheep are also seasonally defined, occurring primarily in autumn and spring.
