Chef Sam Tran – Michelin-Starred Innovator
Sam Tran is the co-founder and head chef of Gia in Hanoi, the first Vietnamese restaurant to earn a Michelin star. After studying in Melbourne, she discovered her passion for cooking and worked at acclaimed venues such as Bawa Café and Sunda Dining, where she mastered modern techniques and Southeast Asian flavors. Returning to Vietnam in 2020, Sam created Gia’s refined tasting menu celebrating Vietnamese heritage with seasonal ingredients. In 2023, she became the first Vietnamese woman to receive a Michelin Star and the Michelin Young Chef Award, cementing her role as a global ambassador for Vietnamese cuisine.
