Ryo Housho was born in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, People's Republic of China. Arrived in Japan in 1995.
Driven by a desire to ‘spread mutton cuisine in Japan’, he opened the down-to-earth Northeast Chinese restaurant ‘Weifang’ beneath the JR Kanda Station East Exit overpass in 2000.
Since then, it has become a popular establishment difficult to book, receiving coverage from numerous media outlets. The cuisine remains true to the home-style flavours of his homeland, without Japanese adaptation. He owns 15 restaurants in all over Japan.
